FOUR HAIKUS

by David C. Alves

Downwind

Sharp grass guarding dunes

holds back hurricane season

all pointing downwind.

Shore

Sea foams– sudsy ships–

sail along retreating tides

summer trade wind sloops.

Thaw

Glistening ice spikes

Leaking life on bare willows

weep into April.

Seeds

Dancing August breeze,

Milkweed fairies swirl skyward7

pirouetting South.
